What makes us different?

We have a proven ability and experience in translating strategic vision into practical outcomes. We specialise in the development, assessment, validation, verification and delivery of the PSID Tool process.

Developed from the UK government’s official crowded places program PSIA tool, the PSID Tool provides a real opportunity for organisations to adopt and implement a nationally approved counter-terrorism/protective security product.

” I was thoroughly impressed with the detail that the PSID assessment covered and the various scenarios that were assessed. This assessment allowed us to better understand where we may have vulnerabilities with our current procedures and suggest improvements rather than scrutinise and criticise. STRaR were very professional throughout and was able to explain the assessment to our occupiers without raising cause for unnecessary concern. I will highly recommend using STRaR”. Tom Duffy. Property Manager, BROADGATE ESTATES

PSID philosophy

    • Risk management – realistic acceptance of vulnerabilities and impacts
    • Proportionality & Consistency
    • Whole life planning
    • Provides “science” and consistency
    • Inclusive approach
    • Logical and sequential
    • Value-based assessment to assist monitor improvement
    • Promote broader considerations of attack methodologies
    • Promote a wider range of Protective Security mitigation options, including no and low-cost options
    • Encourage the joint development of improvement to site security
    • Assist the judgment of further protective security requirements
    • Improvement will also have a positive impact on other corporate responsibilities and crime reduction
    • The PSID model focuses on the proportionate improvement of protective security but engenders a national consistency of approach
    • PSID maximises opportunities to Protect, Prepare, Deter, Detect, Delay, Detain

Our approach concentrates on your:

Policy Setting out what is to be achieved
Operational Setting processes in place to make the Policy work
Physical The “hardware”
Partnership Working with those who can or are needed to make security work
Training Making sure those with a role to play in the security welfare of the site are properly equipped and empowered to act effectively

Successful protective security risk management is not solely predicated on capital expenditure. The PSIA acknowledges that any “hardware” [CCTV, Hostile Vehicle Mitigation, barrier control] is only as effective as the individuals at their controls. STRaR seeks to support you in maximising the effectiveness of existing assets.

STRaR can support your organisation to develop and embed a proportionate, cost-effective CT/security posture and culture that reflects your strategic and operational requirements.

Our credibility [and shared success] as a consultancy is fundamentally based on discretion, and integrity, with clear operational and occupational competency. Reputation and delivery are everything to us, and as such all members of the team have a verifiable and accredited CT risk management background.

PSIA Tool

The PSIA Tool was commissioned in 2014 by the UK Government’s Home Office, Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism (OSCT). It was designed, developed and implemented by Spike and John when they worked at NaCTSO.

It is currently being used across the UK at sites and within businesses that have been deemed by UK Government security professionals as being more attractive locations for terrorism. It is currently used by a number of UK and International businesses and organisations.

STRaR can justifiably claim a unique knowledge of the delivery model and its application and therefore are the market leader. We have extensive experience and can assist in its adoption by independent property owners/occupiers, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and global multinationals; the assessment, methodology and implementation principles remain the same and can be delivered irrespective of industry sector or size.

STRaR can design and implement a range of Security and Counter-Terrorism training programmes in addition to  PSID implementation. We currently support a range of commercial stakeholders in a variety of sectors in operationalising their PSID.

We would very much welcome an opportunity to discuss your PSID verification, and any other protective security training, assurance testing or strategic consultancy requirements
